Nobody’s Wife

Sometimes it’s hard to resist the lure of a gorgeous gown even if you don’t really have an occasion for it. The solution? Invent one.

RFyre have been creating beautiful clothing for as long as I can remember. While some of it is a little gothic for my taste, I always feel a little envious when I see someone else wrapped in one of Raven Pennyfeather’s creations. The Marry gown immediately caught my attention upon release; this is a dress that will carry you effortlessly, and as such it is well worth a look for anyone who can find an excuse to wear it.

The dress contours to the body, strapless bodice holding your curves. The movement in the skirt is fantastic: it doesn’t flap wildly around your legs, but rather drifts and sways in slow, soft motion with a dramatic upward flare when static. Two versions are included with your purchase: one with a fuller skirt and the other – as shown – with a mermaid train which is my personal favourite. The gown clings to the hips and ruffles out mid-way down the leg, extra embellishment added by the sash to the waist, detailed with ribbons which top the wide-spreading swathes of silk. It’s deliciously indulgent and will certainly command attention at any formal gathering to which it’s worn.

A dress like Merry demands similarly exquisite jewellery, which is why I chose part of the Celestial set from alaMood. Jori Watler has come up with a gorgeous design, torc necklace, hoop earrings and matching cuffs (not shown) in solid platinum, the metal etched with a scaled patterning between thickly rimmed borders. These bold pieces have a real elegance about them: I love the substance in comparison to diamond-dressed chains, and will certainly make as much of a statement as the dress.

To finish I chose one of the latest Truth release hairs. Melissa’s extreme bias lends drama, the weight of the hair then moved behind with an extended bun that again gives an edge and adds something a little less ordinary. The dark colouring sits well with the slight tan on the skin: ruby lips and smoked out eyes complete the styling.
