I considered sneaking in through the back door, but if you can miss me in a getup like this then you’re in no fit state to be reading this post and ought to take yourself to bed immediately. For those of you who had enough savvy to point fingers and gasp in mock shock: this is Fayne Khandr, dirty stop out, reporting for blogging duty.
Where I’ve been doesn’t matter, the real scoop is that I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of review copies of the new 5th&Oxford Brooke skin. It usually takes me a while to get settled in a different skin, but I have to say that Brooke felt immediately comfortable, enough for me to strut down to Gol and shake my new bootay in public.
5th&Oxford have a reputation for producing some fantastic makeups and this is what immediately struck me about Brooke. Whether you want a day look or some real drama, there are several sets of makeups to choose from with various options for freckles and brow colours. I have to say that the Rebel, Rebel set of makeups is definitely my favourite, high impact eyes and lush, lickable lips that had me squealing with girlie glee. The eye lids are painted in a deep teal that spreads up to the sockets and bleeds around the lower lid, silvered highlights painted to the inner eye with touches of light catching elsewhere to really make your eyes stand out. I’m wearing Calla’s sexy Flutterby lashes which open the eyes out to emphasise the makeup, along with Curio’s enchanting Tragic eyes in hazel that work with the colouring of the hair and brows.
Face aside, I was pleased with the body as a whole, which works in all skin tones. The detailing is precise and doesn’t feel lacking anywhere, with some gorgeous detailing across the belly which I also felt was too good to keep hidden. My only possible criticism would be with the actual skin tone which I found slightly yellow in places on the medium tone, but that’s ultimately a matter of personal preference. Brooke is body beautiful and a bargain at L$600 a pop – store cards are currently reduced, so you can get an even better deal on bigger purchases if you check those out before you buy.
While I could have strutted around naked it may have caused a bit more of a scene than I’d possibly intended, so instead I slipped into one of the Rebel. Rebel halters also available at 5th & Oxford along with a pair of trousers I found at Paradisis. They’re wonderfully low-rise with ribbon tie panels to the front, back and sides, finished with teasing bows that look almost irresistibly pluckable. The shoes are the wonderfully glittery, bow-backed Abisinthe from Nardcotix. I reviewed the silver version in more detail on my own blog, so you may want to pop over for a closer look.
Accessories come by way of a multi-ringed necklace from SiSSi and metallic bangles from Summer Seale. I love these sets for their simplicity – they’ll pair up well with just about anything so are well-worth a little Linden splurge.
The hair is from Truth and is a fantastic loose style, free-flowing with braided sections nestled in the waves to the front. Most people who know me appreciate that I have a penchant for Truth hair – the styles are well worked and the texturing is fabulous in every shade – but I have to admit that braving the crowds in store can sometimes be a daunting task. No more, Ladies! Truth has just announced that many of his styles are going up on Xstreet, so you can now pick up demos, colour packs and fatpacks without leaving the comfort of your virtual home. Check them out here – you can thank me later.
