Riq Graves has been threatening a boots release for a little; I’ve been waiting on tenterhooks, eager to see what he’d come up with. Reek is definitely one of my favourite places to go shopping, packed with quirky designs from skyboxes to giant knitted tigers and of course the most wonderful winter fashions. There was no disappointment with this fur-lined footwear, cocooning my feet against the snow.
The main part of the boot isn’t colour change, but the leather laces and fur trim are: play with the HUD for your perfect combination. You’ll love the detailing on these, soft leather sewn together in sections with the fur lapping over on the outside seam and to the top of the leg, crossed banding securing and adding interest with a floppy bow tied to the side. If you’re keen but broke, a red version of this boot (minus the HUD options) is available in the 50L Friday sale. Beg, steal and borrow from your friends. They’re so worth it.
It seemed only right to showcase a few more Reek pieces including a collaborative hat and hair combination created with Autumn Hykova of Tiny Bird. The clarity of the knitted texture really brings the cap to life, with ear flaps and trailing tassels, finished with a pompom on top. The hairstyle is designed for an element of girliness that you can’t help but fall for, over-long fringe and side-tied ponytail lending a playfulness to the whole outfit that would otherwise be missing.
I layered tops from Naughty (yes, they’re back) and Fri.day for some woodsy colouring. The pants are from Celestial Studios; beautifully textured with appropriate high and lowlights, stretch lines running to the tops of the legs. I’m particularly enamoured with the seat of the pants: it’s important one’s backside is shown in its best light, and the effect is achieved here with great distinction.
