Feeling Sunshine

Just checking in! I’m keeping it brief so that my alt (the one who resides in the real world) can go and enjoy the sunshine herself, but I couldn’t resist sharing this morning’s bounty with you first.

This look is predominantly a result of a visit to check out L’Abel’s Summer collection. There are some fantastic pieces available which I will doubtless be featuring on my personal blog over the next few weeks, but I knew you’d appreciate this pretty playsuit from the collection. Available in a brighter blue as well as the brown print shown, the Eileen set is easy to wear and just right for any milder weather as we go through the season. With sturdy shoulder straps leading to a square neckline, the suit buttons down the front and finishes with adorable puff legs that pull tight to the hem for a neat finish.

I dressed up with an undertop from Luck Inc which is one of my layering staples, particularly fitting here due to the cut. The leggings are from Atomic, slightly sheer and terming with silky ribbon ties that wrap around the leg and tie to floppy bows.

For jewellery I chose Caroline Apollo’s latest release, polished stones wrapping around both the neck and wrist in double strands. The simplicity of the design makes them ideal for dressing up your casual outfits, although they could just as easily take you through to the evening. The belt is an older release from Mandala, with shoes from Fallingwater Cellardoor’s fantastic collection, study denim pumps with a low heel and lots of lovely detail, with everything from the minute stitches to the careful shading working to provide a very realistic finish.

The hair is one of this week’s Truth releases which I am completely besotted with. With flyaway strands and convincing movement, this pigtail style is sweet and stylish, working beautifully with these poses from Oh My Stars.

If you haven’t heard of The Dressing Room, you’ve been missing out: it’s a store where various designers sell their wares for a seriously discounted price. The collections change regularly, and the latest includes this gorgeous skin from Tuli at a mere L$65.

You just get the one choice (plus an eyebrow shape which I’m also wearing), but for the price you really can’t complain. The skin is made to Tuli’s usual exacting standards with excellent attention to detail, skin creasing at the joints and subtle shading all over giving the skin a realistic but glamorous feel. The face is particularly charming with its nude lips and smokey eye shadow, the cheeks lifted with a bronzer on the bone.

To show it off without giving everything away, I’m wearing underwear by WoE that’s currently on sale at Rouge with 50% of profits being donated for the sim’s upkeep. The Olivia set comes with bodice, knickers and several choices of hosiery in various shades – I haven’t shown those here, but opted instead for stockings by Insolence which I paired with this garter belt from one of Camille Yosuke’s delightful sets. The colour and style is an almost perfect match to the WoE outfit and in my opinion adds extra appeal to this sexy set.

I’m a huge fan of pearls in both lives and have been delighted by the number of creators who stock pearl jewellery. Caroline Apollo’s latest release is a pearl posing set which supplies you with colour change necklaces in various styles to go with her poseballs which will drape you glamourously across the floor, entwined in your chosen beads. My favourite is easily the broken necklace which has pearls still falling from the broken string – quite beautiful and wide open for artistic interpretation in your shots.

Truth Hawks continues to feed my hair addiction, continuing to produce high-quality styles with glorious textures whatever your colour preferences. This Tina style comes with a texture change bow which can be removed (made invisible) if you prefer it; the style has a rather more whimsical feel with the accent and more of a dressy updo without. Pinned up with loose tendrils spiralling down at the sides and wisps of hair floating free at the back, the hair doesn’t feel static but rather soft and romantic.

Details…
Corset and Knickers: WoE (for Rouge), Olivia Corset – Codie
Garter Belt and Stockings: Insolence, Deborah Embroidered Ensemble – Black and Red
Shoes: Maitreya, ChiChi Pumps – Black
Hair: Truth, Tina – Espresso

However much you spend on clothing, if you neglect your accessories you’ll always find your outfits a little lacking. I went all out for this look, showing off some of my inventory favourites which can always be used to glam up a styling.

The hat was a new purchase from Epoque’s Trilogy store. With it’s outrageously wide brim and neat silken band, who could resist, particularly when Glitterati are stocking some poses to work with it? There are 10 poses in the set which are all equally fabulous, tempting you to take more than a few pictures in your spangly new chapeau.

Whether you’re an A-list SLebrity or just emulating that diva style, the Butterfly shades from Gos are hot to trot whatever the season. These oversized sunnies are presumably named for the indent to the side of the frame, giving a very feminine wing-like shape. Lavishly scripted with texture change and colour update options for both lens and frame, as well as as tint opacity, the ability to flip the glasses up on top of your head at the flick of a button, and easy resize, you’ll be hard pressed to find more sophisticated or easily customisable eyewear on the market.

For jewellery I opted for this unusual necklace from Haus of Darcy. It’s dramatic in its style, especially when laid against lighter clothing, and for your money you get each strand to be worn separately or all together. This flexibility certainly gives you a lot of options and can be mixed and matched with various looks to great effect.

You can never have too many boots, so if you don’t already own this pair you definitely need to put them on your shopping list – but hurry as these are currently on sale at a 50% discount and the offer’s unlikely to last. Gos’s Burlesques have become something of a wardrobe staple for me, largely because of the superb shape and fit. They have a unique sizing system to ensure a perfect fit to your leg, and are sold with a special pose stand that you can ask your friend to use to edit your boots if you’re not comfortable to do so yourself. Featuring black leather accents to the toe, heel and back, the curved shape and clean textures will certainly call attention to your legs. With six satin and lace colours included, you’re sure to get plenty of wear.

Details…
Hat: Epoque (for Trilogy), Dame on Carnaby – Tiffany DeCreme
Sunglasses: Gos, Custom Sunglasses Butterfly – Model
Necklace: Haus of Darcy, Mercenary Women’s Set
Cardigan: Emery, Cardigan Long – 04
Top: Surf Co, Racerback Striped Tank – White/Grey
Shorts: Fri.day, Denim Shorts – Black Wash
Boots: Gos, Burlesque – Model
Hair: Exile, Maren – Sambuca (edited)
Skin: Belleza, Elle BR Pale – 11
Poses: Glitterati (for Trilogy), Hat

Got Wood?

If absence makes the heart grow fonder, then round about now your arteries must be fit to burst. I do have a good excuse this time; I’ve been touring the Pose Fair which is absolutely jam packed with new AOs, props, stand alones and sets. With creators still adding new content, it’s definitely worth stalking your favourite stores over the weekend to ensure you’re not missing out.

Glitterati have launched a mass of new content, all of which deserves a mention but couldn’t possibly be crammed into one post. I thought I’d cover the ‘Social Climber’ prop, this a-frame ladder which is absolutely rammed with poses. 10 singles, 5 couples, 5 friends poses and a ten person group pose which is an amalgamation of all the singles styles. I’m hardly doing it justice with so few pictures, but I promise you that there is great fun to be had on your own or in a group. The ladder comes in a black wood as standard, but it’s modable so you can substitute your own textures, tint as required, and even hide the central strut to suit.

I started off with a pretty cropped jumper from Luck Inc; although it’s partially covered you can definitely appreciate the quality. Working well as a standalone, it’s also perfect for layering and tucks neatly beneath this playsuit from Fri.day. Sweet and simple, the panelled bodice is easily paired with other looks, although I’m sure you’ll plenty of wear from the ensemble as a whole. It comes with a high waist belt in various colours and sizes, but I decided to work with another from Urbanity. I’ve been wearing this one a lot since I got it as it has a nifty colour update system allowing you to add to your texture and metal options for a wealth of choice to compliment your outfits. The shape is good, rounded buckle and keeper balancing the excess to the front, with stud and strap detail across the back.

As far as wardrobe essentials go, Gospel Voom’s Docs have to be right up there. Massively customisable with extra polish, lace and toe cap options available in store, the real beauty of this boot is that is literally morphs before your eyes into three distinct shapes – Pristine, Abused and Loose. Pick your shape and then colour everything from the boot to the laces, eyelets and stitching; there really is something to suit everyone. Exquisitely detailed from the modelling to the textures, you can’t help but be impressed. I highly recommend trying the demo in store to see for yourself. Read the rest of this entry »
